Daria Maria

Daria Maria Szmitka is a young contemporary artist based in Bedford, UK who works with acrylic paint on canvas and paper. She enjoys all areas of art, but her main interest is painting as it allows her to express emotions and creativity to the greatest satisfaction. Having never lost the freedom and vibrancy that children have in seeing the world around them, Daria Maria's inspiration comes from the places she visits and the environment around her; the desire to create art as a form of pleasure reflects the awareness of her environment. What she loves most about fine art is the process of creativity and self-expression; it gives a lot of satisfaction seeing work develop and improve over time as she learns new skills through experience and the critical opinions of other people.
The process of making is intrinsic to Daria Maria's character, and her interests reflect this. She has travelled to a number of different countries and finding the variety of cultural experience inspiring and fascinating, instigating the desire to travel and the need to record through photography that she would later paint.
